Kat Dennings was born on June 13, 1986, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and was given the name Katherine Victoria Litwack. Ellen Dennings is Kat's maternal grandmother is a journalist and speech therapy. Her father Gerald is a professor at a university in molecular biology. Dennings is the youngest out of five children, who was raised in a Jewish family. Dennings went through homeschooling and only attended school for a brief period. The homeschool arrangement was the best option for her because she had the ambition to become an actor from an early age. Dennings was able complete high school by the time she turned fourteen.
